So yesterday was the first day of Summer and after a successful registration day on Monday it is beginning to feel as if things are settling into the long, slow days of summer. One of the best things about summer, however, is baseball. Even though The Cardinals are not doing well of late, the College World Series is happening now and Major League Baseball is getting into gear with several interesting pennant races shaping up. Paul and I attended a Jackson Generals game the other day and just realized how fun it can be during these long summer days to enjoy a baseball game. So I started exploring some of the resources that we have in the library on baseball and we have quite a bit. A few of them are highlighted in the case outside of the library. Some of those items include, Opening Day: The Story of Jackie Robinson, The Big Bam: The Life & Times of Babe Ruth, and Faithful: Two Diehard Boston RedSox Fans Chronicle the History 2004 Season. Of Course don't forget that our very own Tim Ellsworth has written an outstanding work, Pujols: More Than the Game and it is also available in the library. We have plenty of fun Summer reads in the library on baseball and other topics.
