iPads in the Library


The library now has a few iPads to check out for students. We thought that this would be a good way for students to use these devices to read some digital articles, take notes in class, listen to lectures or podcasts and read eBooks. We believe that iPads are a really valuable academic tool if used properly and we wanted to give students a chance to access many of the library's eResources using an iPad. Some frequently asked questions about the iPad program are listed below.



Who may borrow an iPad from the library?
Only current Students who present a current Union University photo identification card to a library employee may borrow an iPad.  The iPads will not be checked out to library guests.
 

How can I check out an iPad?
You will need your Union University I.D. and the library will keep the I.D. until the iPad is returned. You will also need to sign a Student iPad Checkout Agreement form.

What is the loan period for an iPad?

Students will be able to check out iPads for  a maximum loan period of 4 hours .
iPads may leave the library but must be returned to the library on the day of check out before closing.
Only one iPad may be checked out at any time by a qualifying library patron.

May I reserve an iPad?
The library’s iPads will be checked out on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will not be an iPad reservation system.

May I renew an iPad for a longer loan period?
Renewals are not available for the iPads.

Are there any fines and fees associated with borrowing an iPad?

Any iPad that is returned late will result in a $15.00 per hour late fee. 

What if an iPad is returned damaged, is lost or is not returned to the library?
An $800.00 replacement fee will be charged to the borrower.
